Silestone is a quartz agglomerate manufactured by Spanish company Cosentino, produced since 1990 at plants in Almería, Andalusia. Quartz content ranges from 90% (classic formula) to 94% (HybriQ+ technology), with binding resins making up the balance. Its unique differentiator: patented N-BOOST antibacterial protection using silver ions, suppressing bacterial growth on the surface by 99.9% (per EN ISO 22196). It is the only quartz agglomerate with structural antibacterial protection — not a surface coating. Since 2020, Cosentino has transitioned production to HybriQ technology: a minimum 20% recycled content in each slab and 99% water recycling at the factory.
Three Silestone collections: Loft (industrial textures — concrete, terrazzo, cement), Ethereal (natural-stone imitation with bold veining), and Sunlit Days (vibrant Mediterranean tones inspired by Spanish beaches). Slab thicknesses: 12 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm. Maximum slab format — Jumbo: 3,250 × 1,590 mm (larger than Caesarstone). We have installed Silestone on 25+ projects: reception desks at the European Medical Center (sterility requirements), bar counters for the DoubleB coffee chain (high traffic, acidic drinks), kitchen islands in private residences. According to Cosentino, the plant produces ~200,000 m² of slabs weekly and exports to 80+ countries.

Bright white with contrasting blue-gray veining — a reference to Statuario marble from Carrara. Cooler palette than Calacatta Gold. Popular for bathrooms and kitchen backsplashes.

Dark gray with a fine-grained concrete texture. The Loft collection reproduces industrial surfaces without their drawbacks. Suede finish is recommended — creates a tactile ground-concrete effect.

Cosentino, Almería, Spain
Mid-gray with a terrazzo effect: large and small inclusions of varying shades. Inspired by Barcelona's Poblenou quarter. Decorative yet practical — the busy pattern conceals everyday marks.

Soft warm white with a subtle sandy texture — inspired by Faro beaches in Portugal. Mediterranean collection co-designed with designer Zinkenagel. Warm, neutral, suited for Scandinavian and coastal interiors.
Kitchen countertops — the primary application. N-BOOST antibacterial protection is especially valuable for families with children and professional kitchens. Recommended thickness: 20 mm standard, 30 mm for premium visible-edge profiles.
Reception desks — Et. Statuario and Calacatta Gold create a premium marble look without the risk of acid etching from spilled visitor coffee. Jumbo slabs cover long desks with minimal seams.
Bar counters — acid resistance (citrus, wine, sparkling water) plus antibacterial protection. Camden (concrete effect) is the top choice for craft bars and specialty coffee shops.
Medical and laboratory countertops — N-BOOST + nonporosity + NSF certification = a triple hygiene guarantee. Installed at the European Medical Center (Moscow) and private clinics.
Bathroom vanities — zero water absorption, antibacterial protection, resistance to cosmetics and hair products. The Ethereal collection creates a spa-like atmosphere.
Wall panels and backsplashes — 12 mm slabs for wall cladding behind work areas. Matching countertop and backsplash in one decor — the dominant 2025–2026 design trend.
Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth and a neutral cleaner. N-BOOST works continuously, but regular cleaning is still necessary to remove organic soiling from the surface. Coffee and wine do not absorb — wipe at your convenience.
Avoid bleach and chlorine-based products — they can weaken the N-BOOST antibacterial layer. Abrasive powders will damage Suede and polished finishes. Hot items — use a trivet (though brief contact is safe).
Sealing is NOT required — as with all quartz agglomerates. Every two weeks, use a specialist quartz cleaner (e.g., Silestone Q-Action, ~$18/bottle) to remove limescale and grease film. Buff gloss surfaces with a soft cloth.
Chips and cracks — professional repair with color-matched epoxy resin. Spot repair: from $60. Full countertop repolishing: from $45/sq ft. Cosentino material warranty: 25 years.

«At EMC every work surface is Silestone with N-BOOST. Antibacterial protection was the deciding factor: in a medical setting this isn't marketing — it's a requirement. In 4 years of operation, zero warranty claims. Sanitary inspections pass without comment.»
«Camden from the Loft collection is perfect for a coffee bar: the concrete texture hides drips, milk spots are invisible. But one chip from a dropped portafilter cost $85 to repair — a downside versus Corian, where a scratch is sanded out in a minute.»
«Silestone machines like standard quartz: diamond blade, water cooling, respirator. Plus — Jumbo slabs mean fewer seams. Minus — heavy: a 20 mm, 30 sq ft slab weighs 310 lbs; hauling it upstairs is an ordeal. I also saw a batch defect: Camden shading didn't match the sample — returned for replacement.»
«Statuario with a Suede finish feels like silk. The kids spill juice daily — I wipe it with a cloth and forget about it. A friend with a marble kitchen spends $180 a year on sealing; I need none at all. The only sting: the price — 30 sq ft came to $14,400 installed.»
«We set hot pots on Silestone, butcher fish, spill lemon juice — zero reaction. Antibacterial certification is a real plus during health inspections. But polished Calacatta Gold on the bar top was a mistake: fingerprints show instantly. Next project I'll go with Suede.»
Both are quartz agglomerates with 90%+ quartz. Silestone's key differentiator: N-BOOST antibacterial technology (silver ions, EN ISO 22196 certified) and the eco-friendly HybriQ formula with 20%+ recycled content. Caesarstone excels in marble replication (Supernatural collection). In hardness, pricing, and daily performance they are nearly identical — the choice depends on design preference and dealer availability.
Installed countertop: from $300/sq ft for the Loft collection (Camden, Poblenou) to $1,500/sq ft for Ethereal Calacatta Gold. A typical 25 sq ft kitchen — $7,500–$22,000. For comparison: a natural Calacatta marble countertop runs from $1,200/sq ft; Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo from $960/sq ft. Prices as of Q1 2026.
N-BOOST is Cosentino's patented antibacterial technology. Silver ions are embedded in the surface structure (not a coating!), suppressing bacterial reproduction by 99.9% per EN ISO 22196. Tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and MRSA. The protection does not wash off, wear away, or expire over the material's lifetime. Important: N-BOOST supplements cleaning — it does not replace it.
HybriQ is Cosentino's technology platform, launched in 2020. It includes: a minimum 20% recycled glass and quartz in each slab, 99% water recycling at the factory, and 100% renewable electricity at the Almería plant. HybriQ+ goes further: a styrene-free composite matrix reducing VOC emissions by 60%. For LEED and BREEAM-certified projects, this is a significant specification advantage.
Depends on the project's style. Corporate office: Et. Statuario — refined elegance, white with gray veining. Boutique hotel: Calacatta Gold — warm luxury. Craft workspace or co-working: Camden or Poblenou from the Loft collection — industrial chic. Resort spa: Faro White from Sunlit Days — Mediterranean warmth. Budget for a 10-ft desk: from $5,400 to $18,000.
Suede is a soft matte texture that's tactilely pleasant but demands care. Daily: soft cloth with water, no abrasives. Suede shows fewer fingerprints than polished finishes, but grease marks are visible — wipe with a dry microfiber. Minor scratches on Suede are less noticeable than on gloss. Do not wipe in circular motions — always in one direction, following the texture's 'grain.'
No. Silestone HybriQ+ is Greenguard Gold certified — one of the strictest standards for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, applied to schools and healthcare facilities. The HybriQ+ composite matrix is styrene-free, further reducing emissions. For allergy sufferers and families with children, it is one of the safest countertop materials available.
Cosentino provides a 25-year warranty for residential use and 10 years for commercial. The warranty covers: manufacturing defects, delamination, and color loss (when care guidelines are followed). It does not cover: mechanical damage (impacts, chips), thermal shock, or chemical burns from cleaners with pH > 13. To activate the warranty, register on the Cosentino website within 30 days of installation.
We'll calculate the cost, select the best grade, and show examples of completed projects.
