Dekton is an ultra-compact, ultra-durable surface from Spanish manufacturer Cosentino, produced using TSP (Technology of Sintered Particles): a blend of quartz, porcelain, glass, and oxides is sintered at 25,000 tons of pressure and 1,200°C. The result is a material with virtually zero water absorption (0.00%), resistant to UV radiation, acids, scratches, and extreme temperature swings from −50°C to +300°C. Dekton is the only engineered stone equally suited for interior countertops, exterior facades, and flooring. Certifications: NSF/ANSI 51, Greenguard Gold, EN 14411 (pressed ceramic tile), EN 1469 (cladding stone).
Dekton product lines: Natural Collection (marble and stone imitation), Industrial Collection (concrete, metal, rust), Solid Collection (single-tone), Chromica Collection (textured colors), Onirika Collection (onyx with backlighting), and Kraftizen Collection (large-format industrial). Slab format: standard 126 × 57 in, Large Format 126 × 61 in — among the largest sintered-stone slabs available. Thicknesses: 4, 8, 12, 20, 30 mm. 4 mm — facades (ventilated curtain wall), 8 mm — walls and floors, 12–20 mm — countertops, 30 mm — steps. We have installed Dekton on 20+ projects: ventilated business-center facades, outdoor restaurant terraces (Dekton does not fade — 10,000-hour UV test with zero color change), countertops in Michelin-star professional kitchens where chefs place red-hot pans directly on the surface without trivets.

White with striking gray-gold veining — imitating Calacatta marble. Unlike quartz counterparts, the pattern runs through the full slab thickness (Xgloss technology), not just the surface. A chip reveals the same texture beneath.

Dark gray with an oxidized-metal texture — industrial chic without corrosion. Ultratex finish creates a tactile worked-metal effect. A decor for loft kitchens and commercial spaces.

Gray-beige with soft washes — imitating Scandinavian sandstone. A neutral backdrop for kitchens and bathrooms. UltraSoft finish — matte, pleasant to the touch.

Translucent with an onyx effect — designed for backlighting. 12 mm thickness; LED panels behind the slab produce a glow with visible veining. A luxury decor for bar counters, feature walls, and art installations.
Premium kitchen countertops — for those who place red-hot skillets directly on the surface. 8 Mohs = nothing in the household scratches it. 0% absorption = no stain will ever penetrate. Recommendation: 20 mm for standard kitchens, 12 mm + substrate for lighter-budget builds.
Ventilated facades — a unique application: Dekton 4–8 mm on a metal substructure. UV-proof, freeze-proof, A1 noncombustible, large format = the ideal facade material. We clad a 27,000 sq ft business-center facade in 3 weeks.
Reception desks — Entzo and Trilium replicate natural marble with zero limitations: coffee, wine, and acids are harmless. For high-traffic facilities, the optimal choice.
Flooring — 8 mm slabs for commercial floors. Abrasion-resistant, slip-resistant (UltraGrip finish), crack-proof under temperature swings.
Outdoor terraces and bar areas — the only engineered stone that does not fade in sunlight. Freeze-proof to −50°C. We use it for restaurant terraces, outdoor kitchens, and pool surrounds.
Bar counters — resistant to alcohol, acids, hot cups, and mechanical loads. Onirika Awake with backlighting — for luxury bars.
Effortless care: a damp cloth and any household cleaner — Dekton is impervious to everything. The absolutely nonporous surface absorbs neither stains nor odors. You can spill wine and leave coffee overnight — wipe it clean in the morning.
The only real limitation: impact. Despite 8 Mohs hardness, Dekton is brittle under concentrated blows — dropping a cast-iron pan or a hammer can cause a chip. A chip cannot be sanded away — only panel replacement.
Sealing, impregnation, antibacterial treatment — NONE required. With 0.00% water absorption, Dekton needs zero preventive maintenance. For gloss surfaces (Xgloss): wipe weekly with glass cleaner for a streak-free shine.
In case of a chip or crack — contact a Cosentino-certified fabricator. Repair = replacement of the damaged panel. Cost: from $240 per section + removal/installation. Cosentino warranty: 25 years for interiors, 10 years for facades.

«Dekton on a ventilated facade — 27,000 sq ft in 3 weeks. Four years outdoors — zero color change, zero cracks through Moscow winters (−30°C). For comparison: porcelain tile on the neighboring building cracked after its second winter. Large format 126 × 57 in — faster installation, fewer joints.»
«In a professional kitchen this is a godsend. We set sauté pans straight from the flame — not a mark. Lemon juice, vinegar, red wine — zero reaction. But a cook dropped a cast-iron skillet from height — small edge chip. Repair — $300 for section replacement. The only real downside.»
«Dekton demands surgical precision in fabrication. Diamond blade, water, CNC — mandatory. Freehand cutting is impossible — it'll shatter. When processed correctly the result is flawless. Labor cost is 2× higher than standard quartz. But the material itself is otherworldly.»
«Bergen on an outdoor kitchen — two summers and two winters (−25°C). No cracks, no color change. Neighbors with a granite countertop have already sealed it twice; I do nothing at all. I place the hot grill right on the surface. Yes, it was expensive — $16,800 for 30 sq ft — but it's forever.»
«Dekton Trilium on the reception desk — guests assume it's natural marble. In 3 years, not a single stain from coffee, wine, or perfume. But while repositioning a metal lamp they scratched the edge. Turned out the scratch was in the finish, not the stone — a technician buffed it out. A real chip, though, would have meant replacement.»
Neither. Dekton is a sintered stone — a separate material class. Quartz, porcelain, glass, and oxides are blended and sintered at 25,000 tons and 1,200°C — 10× the pressure used for quartz agglomerate. Result: density and hardness above granite, water absorption at zero, UV resistance absolute. Under EN 14411, Dekton is classified as pressed ceramic tile, but its properties exceed any porcelain tile on the market.
Installed countertop: from $390/sq ft for Industrial and Solid collections to $2,100/sq ft for Onirika with backlighting. A typical 25 sq ft kitchen — $9,750–$33,000. That's 30–50% more than Caesarstone/Silestone, but Dekton has no equal in heat resistance and UV stability. For outdoor kitchens and facades — it's the only engineered option. Prices as of Q1 2026.
Yes — and this is its defining advantage. Dekton withstands direct contact with a red-hot skillet (up to 300°C) without a trivet. Thermal shock: Cosentino's demo shows one end of a slab being hit with a blowtorch while the other is packed with ice — no cracks. In practice, avoid striking the surface with hot cookware — impact brittleness is still a factor.
Yes — it is one of its signature applications. Dekton 4–8 mm mounts onto a ventilated curtain-wall system. Advantages: 10,000-hour UV stability (no fading), F-200 freeze-thaw resistance (to −50°C), A1 noncombustibility, large format (up to 126 × 61 in — minimal joints). Aesthetically it mimics marble, concrete, or metal. Facade cost: from $75/sq ft (4 mm slab) + the substructure.
Dekton surpasses Caesarstone on every physical metric: 8 vs. 7 Mohs hardness, 0.00% vs. <0.02% absorption, +300°C heat resistance without thermal-shock risk (Caesarstone carries that risk). But: Dekton is 30–50% more expensive and absolutely unrepairable (chip = panel replacement). Caesarstone offers the best price-to-performance ratio for a household kitchen. Dekton is the perfectionist's or professional kitchen's choice.
Professional fabrication only: diamond blades with water cooling, 3,000–3,500 RPM. Quartz dust is a health hazard — respirator and extraction mandatory. Edge profiling with diamond router. Sink cutouts on a CNC with diamond bit. Home fabrication is impossible. Fabrication cost: $50–$150/sq ft — significantly higher than quartz or solid surface.
Since 2022, Cosentino produces Dekton with a net-zero carbon footprint (Carbon Neutral certified). This is achieved through: 100% renewable electricity at the plant, 99% water recycling, and certified offsets for residual emissions. Dekton is the first sintered stone to achieve carbon neutrality. For LEED Platinum / BREEAM Outstanding projects, this is a material-selection differentiator.
Onirika is Dekton's translucent, onyx-effect collection. When backlit with LED panels, it produces a glow with visible veining — the effect of natural backlit onyx, without the fragility or water absorption. Applications: luxury bar counters, feature walls, and boutique-hotel reception desks. 12 mm thickness. Price: from $480/sq ft — the premium tier.
