Staron is an acrylic solid surface by Samsung SDI (formerly Cheil Industries). Composition: 75% aluminum trihydrate (ATH) + 25% PMMA acrylic resin. Sheet thickness: 6 and 12 mm. Size: 144.8" × 30". Density: 108 lb/ft³. Thermoformable: radius from 2" (12 mm sheet). Seamless bonding: joints invisible after polishing. 150+ décors: solid, textured, translucent. Certifications: NSF/ANSI 51 (food contact), Greenguard Gold, ISO 14025 (EPD). Competes with Corian, Hi-Macs, Hanex.
Reception Space uses Staron on 25% of acrylic stone projects: reception desks (seamless forms), bar counters (thermoformed curved fronts), bathroom countertops (integrated sink from the same material). Why Staron? 1) Samsung: quality + affordability (15–25% cheaper than Corian). 2) 150+ décors — from white solid to stone imitation. 3) Repairability: scratches sand out P320–P800 without removal. 4) Food contact: NSF/ANSI 51 — safe for kitchens. Limitations: softer than quartz (Mohs 2.5–3 vs quartz 7), no hot pots directly (up to 300°F).

S, BW, SB series — solid colors
Clean solid-color surfaces: white (BW010 Bright White), black (SQ019 Black), grey (SS042 Sanded Grey). 70%+ of sales. For minimalist interiors: reception desks, countertops, windowsills. Seamless bonding especially impactful.

FT, FS, FC series — with particles
Acrylic with inclusions of varying size: fine (Sanded), medium (Pebble), large (Mosaic). Granite and terrazzo imitations. For high-traffic surfaces: particles camouflage micro-scratches. For kitchens and HoReCa.

SM, VR series — enhanced aesthetics
Premium décors: marble veining (Supreme), realistic stone (Radianz-inspired). Increased mineral content. For designer projects. Tactile texture: close to natural stone feel.

ST series — light-transmitting
Light transmission: 10–30%. For backlit counters, bar areas, decorative panels. LED backlighting: 'glowing stone' effect. Limited palette (white, cream). Premium segment.
Reception desks — seamless 16-foot surface + thermoformed front: Staron's signature application.
Kitchen countertops — integrated sink from same material: hygienic, elegant. NSF-certified.
Bar counters — backlit bar area (Translucent): WOW effect in HoReCa venues.
Bathrooms — countertops, shelves, bath screens: moisture-proof + seamless. No mold.
Wall panels — wall cladding in clinics, beauty salons: hygienic + easy to clean.
Windowsills — seamless junction with reveals: aesthetics + durability. No condensation issues.
Soft cloth + soapy water or mild cleaner. Staron is one of the easiest surfaces to maintain.
Knives without board (scratches). Hot cookware without trivet. Prolonged acetone (>1 min). Abrasive powders.
Minor scratches: grey Scotch-Brite (P320) in circular motions. Polish: P800 → compound. Every 6–12 months.
Deep polishing: from $12/lin ft. Chip repair: from $18. Full resurface: from $30/sq ft.

«13 years working with Staron: consistent quality, reliable logistics (Moscow warehouse), fair prices. vs Corian: material difference — zero, price difference — 15–25%. My clients: 60% Staron, 30% Corian, 10% Hi-Macs. Staron Solid BW010 (white): bestseller 10 years running. Issue: Samsung occasionally discontinues décors — need to stock up.»
«Staron for reception desks: 70% of my projects. Thermoforming: curved front + seamless countertop = WOW without astronomical price. Translucent series: backlit bar counter — clients gasp. Downside: luxury-segment clients want Corian (branding!), though material is identical. Takes convincing.»
«Installing Staron is a pleasure: lightweight (vs quartz — need crane), cuts with router, bonds with proprietary adhesive. Average install time for 10 ft countertop: 4 hours (vs quartz: 8 hours + 2 people). Repair calls: once a year 'remove scratches' — 30 minutes with Scotch-Brite, $18. Client happy.»
«Staron Solid (white) countertop + integrated sink: 6 years, family of 3. Pros: seamless sink — easy to clean, beautiful. Cons: knife scratches (husband cuts without board — no matter how many times I say). Annual technician visit ($18) — polishes 30 min → like new. Conclusion: excellent material, but need a cutting board.»
«Staron in commercial projects: clinics (hygiene: NSF), offices (desks + walls), restaurants (bar counters). Samsung gives 20% discount on orders > 500 sq ft — project economics work. On 100+ projects: 3 warranty claims (thermal mark from pot — repaired). Reliable workhorse material.»
Technically: identical composition (ATH + PMMA), identical properties (seamless, thermoformable, repairable). Differences: 1) Brand: Corian (DuPont) — premium associations. Staron (Samsung) — tech associations. 2) Price: Staron 15–25% cheaper. 3) Décors: Corian 140+, Staron 150+ (70% overlap). Practically: interchangeable. For budget: Staron. For luxury branding: Corian.
Technically yes, surface won't be damaged. But scratches will remain (Mohs 2.5–3 vs knife 5.5). Solution: cutting board ALWAYS. If scratches appear: grey Scotch-Brite (P320) + soapy water → circular motions → scratches gone in 5 minutes. This is acrylic stone's main advantage: on-site repair without removal.
Up to 300°F briefly — no problem. Hot mug: OK. Hot pot from stove (400°F+): may leave white thermal mark. Kettle: OK (212°F). Rule: always use trivets (silicone mats). Thermal marks are repairable: sanding + polishing (technician, 30 min).
A sink cut and formed from the SAME Staron sheet: countertop → rim → basin — monolithic with no joints. Benefits: no seam (no dirt, bacteria), elegant look, hygienic. Cost: +$300–600 over countertop price. Shapes: rectangular, oval, freeform. Size: up to 20" × 16" (standard).
15–25 years with normal use (home kitchen: 20+ years). With regular polishing (annually): 25+ years — surface renews like new. In HoReCa (restaurant, bar): 10–15 years (high traffic). Samsung warranty: 10 years (with certified installation).
Staron (acrylic): seamless, thermoformable, repairable, lightweight. Mohs 2.5 (softer). Quartz (Caesarstone, Silestone): looks more monolithic, Mohs 7 (knife-proof), heavy, NOT seamless (joints visible), NOT repairable (chip = replacement). For complex forms: Staron. For maximum hardness: quartz. For kitchen (knives): quartz is better.
White décors with constant UV (near window, balcony): possible slight yellowing over 5–10 years. Solution: sanding + polishing (removes 0.004" — yellowed layer). Not for exterior use. Colored décors (grey, black, particulate): high UV resistance — changes unnoticeable.
Straight countertop 10 lin ft (Solid): $1,100–1,500 (material + labor + install). With integrated sink: +$400–600. L-shape (13+6 ft): $2,000–3,000. Comparison: Corian same: $1,400–2,000. Quartz (Caesarstone): $1,800–3,000. Staron: optimal price/quality ratio.
